Mammals← In the picture to the left is a Viscacha. The viscacha typically live in high altitudes with scarce vegetation. The viscacha has little no predators, humans are the predators. Since they are hunted for meat and fur. They have adapted to their environment using their seasonal fur. Fur is also dependent on their age. The other mammals found in Lake Titicaca is wild guinea pig, Andean wild wolf, Andean Fox, llamas, alpacas, and skunks. All depend on each other for a source of food. Mammals are mostly primary consumers and tertiary consumers.
Birds The birds in this area give off beautiful morning chirps to give you a great head start to the day. Some of the birds in this area are; Titicaca flightless grebe, Chilean flamingo, Puna ibis, Andean swallow, black night heron and the guarahuaru falcon. There are over 60 species in Lake Titicaca's ecosystem. Impossible to go into depth in all of their niches. For example the puna ibis eats small aquatic animals such as frigs and fish. But nothing rarely eats the bird. |
